1. Overview

ReadKaro (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our AI-powered reading assistant at readkaro.net.

The short version: We collect almost nothing. Your vocabulary data never leaves your own device.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not require you to create an account or log in to use ReadKaro.

We do not store the article URLs you paste into ReadKaro on our servers beyond the duration of the server-side fetch request.

We do not have access to your Vocabulary Book. All saved words are stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage on your own device. We cannot see, access, or read this data.

We do not sell, share, or monetize any user data with third parties.

3. Information We Process Temporarily

Article URLs: When you submit a URL, our server fetches the article content to render it in our reader. This URL is not logged or stored after the request completes.

Words and Selections: When you hover over a word or highlight text, that word or text is sent to our server to call the Google Gemini API for a definition. These requests are not stored or logged.

4. localStorage (Your Vocabulary Book)

ReadKaro uses your browser's localStorage API to save your Vocabulary Book under the key readkaro_vocabulary. This data:

• Is stored only on your device
• Persists across browser sessions (does not vanish on tab close)
• Can be cleared by you at any time via your browser's settings
• Is never transmitted to our servers

5. Analytics

We use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated data about site usage (page views, sessions, device types). This data contains no personally identifiable information.

6. Advertising

ReadKaro may display Google AdSense advertisements on guide and blog pages. These ads may use cookies to serve relevant advertisements. Ad units are never shown inside the article reader.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables it to serve ads to users based on their visit to our site. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings.

7. Third-Party Services

We use the Google Gemini API to generate word definitions and explanations. Text sent to Gemini is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

8. Children's Privacy

ReadKaro does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13. The service is intended for students aged 13 and above.
